A substantial improvement of the living environment and the environment must take intoaccount the following aspects: valorisation of the environmental system and biodiversity, efficient use of resources, recycling and reuse, promotion of clean or renewable energies, sustainable construction through bioclimatic architecture (passive standard, local materials, grey energy), reduction of energy consumption and emissions, as well as the recovery ofdegraded spaces.
We therefore undertake to present a concept for the thermal envelope (winter and summer)and the technical installations. The energy concept consists of three parts: the thermalprotection in winter, the thermal protection in summer and the choice and motivation of thetechnical installations.
From an economic point of view, a distinction must be made between investment costs andmaintenance costs. In terms of technology and construction, we prefer robust and simplesolutions that require little adjustment and maintenance. It is important that the solutions canbe easily adapted by the inhabitants. We must therefore focus on architectural solutions(compactness, orientation, etc.) that are ‘free and automatic’, and then think abouttechnological solutions, to complete an efficient tool by avoiding expensive and fragile gadgets.
