The evolution of contemporary construction demands a profound transition from purely functional models towards systems that interact positively with their environment. At AMM, we understand that a sustainable and regenerative architecture studio should not be limited to minimizing negative impact but must act as an agent of ecological and social restoration. Our office, led by Adelino Magalhães and Denis Calle Facal, integrates decades of technical experience with a cutting-edge academic vision to transform territory through design.
We approach each project from the premise that architecture is a living discipline. We don't just build volumes; we design ecosystems that foster human well-being and planetary health. This philosophy has allowed us to consolidate ourselves as a benchmark in sustainable architecture Spain, extending our teaching and professional work from Madrid towards a global scenario that includes projects of high technical complexity and environmental commitment.
AMM combines the rigor of urban analysis with innovation in materials and circular systems. As a multidisciplinary sustainable architecture studio, our methodology is nourished by constant research, university teaching, and solid professional practice, guaranteeing that each intervention is technically, economically, and environmentally viable.
AMM's identity is forged through the trajectory of its directors, who bring a unique combination of academic experience and technical management capability. Adelino Magalhães, architect from FAUP (Porto) and specialized in Urbanism, has developed a career marked by excellence and international vocation. Since 2016, he has transferred his expertise to new generations as a project professor at ETSAM (Technical University of Madrid), consolidating a vital bridge between architectural theory and real construction.
Alongside him, Denis Calle Facal brings a dynamic vision and advanced mastery of new technologies, essential for monitoring and compliance with the most demanding sustainability standards. The studio is the natural evolution of more than 20 years of accumulated experience, where participation in international-scale projects—such as partial management of the Reina Sofía Museum under Jean Nouvel's direction—has endowed the team with technical robustness capable of facing complex structural and regulatory challenges.
Our ecological architecture studio Madrid knows the local professional environment thoroughly but always maintains a global perspective. This duality allows us to navigate between the specific regulations of the Community of Madrid and international sustainability standards, offering solutions that are both contextual and innovative.
A regenerative architecture studio is distinguished by a team that combines elite academic training with on-site practice. Adelino Magalhães (professor at ETSAM) and Denis Calle Facal lead AMM applying deep knowledge of urbanism and new technologies, guaranteeing impeccable technical management based on more than two decades of experience in international and local scale projects.
Our sustainable architecture vision moves away from superficial concepts or "greenwashing." At AMM, fundamental values focus on circular economy, respect for pre-existence, and optimization of natural resources. We believe that sustainability begins in the urban conception phase and ends in the building's complete life cycle.
Our principles are articulated around three axes:
This vision translates into an honest practice where each design decision is backed by data and an ethical commitment to future generations. Architecture is not an isolated object but a piece of urban machinery that must function in harmony.
AMM's sustainable vision and values are based on architecture that transcends energy efficiency to embrace circular economy and well-being. We apply passive design strategies and rigorous material selection to create spaces that not only respect the environment but actively contribute to the health of people and the urban ecosystem.
AMM's international experience is one of the pillars that define us. The studio has managed to project its vision beyond Spanish borders, winning prestigious international competitions in countries such as Luxembourg and Switzerland, in addition to maintaining constant activity in Portugal and Spain. This external projection demonstrates our ability to adapt regenerative architecture principles to different climates, regulations, and cultural contexts.
Our international track record is not limited to building design but encompasses comprehensive project management and collaboration with first-tier external consultancies. We understand that global architecture requires a language unified by technical excellence and sustainable innovation. Having worked in such diverse environments allows us to offer our clients a unique anticipation capacity against supply challenges, European green building regulations, and international certification standards.
Rehabilitation projects, educational center expansions, and urban developments abroad are part of our active portfolio. This geographical mobility is the result of a firm commitment to architectural quality that knows no borders, always seeking positive impact in each community where we intervene.
AMM architecture's international track record, with projects and competitions won in Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, and Spain, endorses our global management capacity. This expertise allows the studio to apply European high sustainability standards in diverse contexts, ensuring innovative technical solutions that respond effectively to the climatic and regulatory demands of each geographical market.
AMM's regenerative architecture expertise manifests in our ability to transform existing spaces and endow them with new productive life. Regenerative architecture doesn't just conserve; it restores. A clear example is our extensive experience in the educational sector in the Community of Madrid, where we have developed from large-scale public-private schools (such as the center in Humanes for 600 students) to rehabilitations of common spaces in university centers such as UNED in Segovia.
In these projects, the regenerative approach is applied by considering how the building can interact with learning and community. We don't limit ourselves to building walls; we create environments that breathe and evolve. Construction process management, including temporary solutions so that teaching activity doesn't stop, demonstrates logistical planning that is also a form of social and economic sustainability.
Our practice also includes participation in the rehabilitation of iconic buildings and the application of energy-saving criteria in intensive-use structures. Each success case reinforces our thesis that architecture is a tool to improve the city's resilience against climate change and changing social needs.
Regenerative architecture at AMM translates into tangible projects that restore the social and environmental fabric. Our experience in the educational sector, with centers for hundreds of students and university rehabilitations, demonstrates how design can integrate into the community to generate lasting positive impact, always prioritizing functionality, resilience, and circularity.
Training and knowledge dissemination are inseparable from our professional practice. The regenerative architecture teaching exercised by Adelino Magalhães at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) since 2016 brings to the studio a component of constant critical research. This academic link allows us to be at the forefront of the latest trends in materials, construction systems, and sustainable design theories before they reach the general market.
AMM's academic collaborations in architecture include:
This teaching facet guarantees that AMM's projects are not mere repetitions of known formulas but solutions thought from the rigor of contemporary architectural thinking. In the studio, each project is a classroom and each technical challenge a collaborative learning opportunity.
Adelino Magalhães's teaching and academic collaboration at ETSAM and other international universities places AMM at the forefront of regenerative architecture. This link with university research guarantees that the studio applies innovative and updated solutions, transforming academic knowledge into practical applications for projects of real sustainability and social commitment.
Having a multidisciplinary sustainable architecture team is the only way to guarantee a project's success in the 21st century. At AMM, we combine urban vision, technical design, technological monitoring, and aesthetic sensitivity in the same creative process. This eliminates communication gaps between phases and ensures that the initial sustainable intention materializes in the final work.
Multidisciplinarity allows us to:
Our global structure is not just a matter of location but of mindset. We understand global sustainability trends but execute them with the precision of those who know the terrain inch by inch.
Betting on a multidisciplinary sustainable architecture team like AMM ensures a comprehensive vision that unites urbanism, technology, and ecological design. Our ability to coordinate experts and manage global projects guarantees that each work reaches maximum sustainability standards, optimizing resources and times through deep knowledge of both local environment and international requirements.
Behind AMM are Adelino Magalhães and Denis Calle Facal. Adelino is an architect graduated in 1997 with a specialty in Urbanism from FAUP (Porto), professor at ETSAM, and with more than 20 years of experience directing international projects. Denis brings dynamism and expertise in new technologies applied to architecture. Together they lead a team that has managed everything from museums to educational complexes.
Our vision is regenerative: we seek for architecture to not only use fewer resources but to return value to the environment. We base ourselves on circular economy, passive design for thermal comfort, and the choice of healthy materials that improve users' quality of life and urban biodiversity.
Although our base is in Madrid, AMM has a solid international track record, having won competitions and developed projects in Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, and Spain. We particularly stand out in the educational, residential, and urban rehabilitation sectors, always under high sustainability criteria.
Yes, teaching is part of our DNA. Adelino Magalhães is a project professor at ETSAM (UPM) and has collaborated with the European University of Madrid. This connection with academia allows us to integrate research and the latest innovations in sustainable architecture into our daily professional practice.
What differentiates us is the balance between academic rigor (research and teaching) and real technical experience on-site. We don't just design on paper; we know construction processes, Madrid's local regulations, and international requirements, which allows us to offer technically and aesthetically viable regenerative architecture.
We actively participate in international conferences, publications in specialized media such as Metalocus or Arquitectura Viva, and through university teaching. We believe that sharing knowledge about sustainability helps raise standards across the entire construction industry.
